CBD glossary for Australians
CBD labels and laboratory documents can be dense. This glossary explains common terms without suggesting that a product is lawful, approved or suitable.
CBD
Cannabidiol, a cannabinoid found in cannabis.
THC
Tetrahydrocannabinol, a cannabinoid associated with intoxicating effects. Different THC-related measurements may appear on reports.
Carrier oil
An ingredient used to hold or deliver another ingredient in a liquid formulation.
Isolate
A refined ingredient described as predominantly one compound. Verify the actual specification.
Broad spectrum and full spectrum
Supplier terms for formulations containing multiple plant-derived compounds. Definitions can vary.
Certificate of analysis (COA)
A laboratory report for a sample. Match its product, batch and date before relying on it.
Limit of detection and reporting limit
Laboratory thresholds that affect how results are stated. “Not detected” is not always the same as absolute zero.
Batch or lot number
An identifier used to connect a product with manufacturing and testing records.
