How to Read a CBD Lab Report

How to read a CBD lab report

A laboratory report, sometimes called a certificate of analysis, records results for a particular sample. It should not be treated as proof for every batch made by a brand.

Five checks

  1. Identity: match the product and batch number.
  2. Date: confirm when the sample was tested.
  3. Cannabinoids: note the units as well as the numbers.
  4. Laboratory: identify who performed the testing.
  5. Scope: check which analyses were and were not included.

Common sources of confusion

Percentages, milligrams per millilitre and total milligrams are different measurements. A result below a reporting limit does not necessarily mean absolute zero. Ask the supplier or laboratory for clarification when a report is unclear.
